On Friday 9 December, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini announced the appointment of eight senior civil servants at the European External Action Service.
Polish national Pawel Herczynski has been appointed as Director, Conflict Prevention and Security Policy. Marc Giacomini of France has been appointed as Director, Deputy Managing Director Human Rights, Global and Multilateral Issues. Maltese national Colin Scicluna has been appointed Director, Deputy Managing Director Middle East and North Africa. Paola Pampaloni of Italy has been appointed as Director, Deputy Managing Director Asia and the Pacific. Fellow Italian Michele Cervone d’Urso has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Saudi Arabia.
Tomas Ulicny of the Czech Republic has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Angola. Belgium’s Bart Ouvry has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Spain’s Véronique Lorenzo has been appointed Head of the European Delegation in Somalia.
