MEPs on the European Parliament’s civil liberties committee said in a vote on Thursday 8 December that the future EU agency for asylum, based on the current European Asylum Support Office (EASO), should ensure that member states respect EU rules on asylum, coordinate exchange of information among member states and ensure that they also respect fundamental freedom.
