01/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 1 December, the European Parliament approved the postponement by one year – from January 2017 to January 2018 – of the entry into force of the 'Priips' regulation (1286/14) on the pre-contractual information that retail investors may use to compare certain financial products (see EUROPE 11664). This postponement, which brings the entry into force of the 'Priips' regulation into line with that of the revised 'MiFID II' directive governing the financial markets, will give the European legislator time to finalise the implementing measures detailing the key information document (KID) designed to allow consumers to make an enlightened choice in their investments, the first version of which was rejected by Parliament in September (see EUROPE 11624).
