01/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – In the course of a discussion with the MEPs of the regional development (REGI) committee on Tuesday 29 November, Regional Policy Commissioner Corina Cretu said that she was wary about the idea of differentiation within cohesion policy depending on regions’ and member states’ administrative and monitoring capacities. She pointed out that final recipients are, on the contrary, calling for a single set of rules for all European funds and shared implementation of programmes. She urged that a single set of rules be put in place for the next planning period. Differentiation is an issue regularly raised at either member state or regional level, often with lukewarm enthusiasm (see EUROPE 11667). (PH)
