24/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – In its adoption, on Thursday 24 November, of the report by José Manuel Fernandes (EPP, Portugal) on the draft amending budget no. 4/2016, the committee on budgets of the European Parliament agreed to a reduction of €7.3 billion in payment appropriations (in the field of the cohesion policy), reducing the national contributions of the member states of the EU by the same amount (see EUROPE 11663). This amending budget furthermore increases the commitments to manage the migrant crisis: an extra €50 million for the instrument to provide emergency aid within the EU, €130 million the 'asylum, migration and integration' fund and €70 million for the internal security fund. This will require a mobilisation of the contingency margin at a level of €240.1 million, after taking account of the redeployment of €9.9 million. Parliament will approve this amending budget at the plenary session to be held in early December. (LC)
