08/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 8 November, the Council of Ministers of the EU adopted without debate its position on draft amending budget no. 5/2016, on the implementation of the new decision 2014/335 on the system of own resources, following the completion of the ratification process and the entry into force of this decision on 1 October 2016 (in particular, a reduction of the VAT call-in rate for Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden, a gross reduction of the annual GNI contribution for Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden, the financing of the British rebate for 2014 and 2015). The net impact of this draft amending budget is zero, for instance because the corrections awarded to certain member states in the 2014 decision have to be paid for by the others. (LC)
