22/09/2016 (Agence Europe) – In a press release published on Wednesday 21 September, the advisory body said that the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the European Commission would soon be launching a "participatory platform on broadband". This new instrument is expected to help Europe reach the connectivity objectives it set out in its draft telecommunications code (see EUROPE 11624). The CoR notes that the new platform will enable local and regional representatives to discuss the main challenges and share best practice on governance, technological and policy choices, as well as the financial opportunities with regard to the different existing instruments. The press release states that the platform could meet in Brussels and be co-chaired by the European Commission (DG Connect) and the CoR. (SPj)
