Monday 19 September

  • New York (USA). European Union. UN Summit on refugees and migrants and ministerial week (to 29/09) on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (18-22/09). To be attended by the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, the High Representative, Federica Mogherini, and the Vice-President of the Commission, Frans Timmermans
  • Brussels.  European Parliament. Activities of the committees (to 22/09). – LIBE: visit of a delegation to Lebanon to examine the refugee situation (to 22/09); the delegation will attend the high-level meeting of the UN refugees and migrants (see above– 18-20/09); visit of a delegation to Sweden to examine the border with Denmark (border controls). – DEVE: delegation to visit Tanzania to assess the country’s participation in the new alliance for food and food security (19-22/09). – FEMM: delegation to visit Rwanda to examine the role of women in peace and reconciliation (19/23/09) - CONT: visit of a delegation to Lebanon and Jordan to examine the financial aspects of the refugee situation (20-22/09); - EMIS: visit of a delegation to Luxembourg, France and Germany to view test platforms (21-22/09). – IMCO: delegation to visit the United Kingdom to discuss changes to car type approval rules with the parties concerned (21-23/09). – ENVI: delegation to visit local sustainable projects in Essen (19-21/09; delegation to visit Johannesburg (South Africa) to monitor the work of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) (22-26/09)

Tuesday 20 September

General Affair’ Council. – Progress with implementation of the conclusions of the European Council of June and preparations for the European Council of 20 and 21/10; - Presentation by the Commission of its mid-term examination of the multi-annual financial framework 2014-2020; - Exchange of views on the priorities of the Commission’s programme of work for 2017.
  • Luxembourg.  * Court of Justice of the EU. #Judgments: joined cases C-8-9-10-105-106107-108-109/15 P (various parties/Commission and ECB – Applications for the cancellation of orders of the General Court of the EU rejecting appeals for cancellation and compensation regarding the restructuring of the banking sector in Cyprus).

Wednesday 21 September

  • Brussels. European Commission. Weekly meeting of the College of Commissioners. Digital single market – copyright, part 2.
  • Brussels. Council of Ministers. Coreper I and II.
  • Luxembourg.  * Court of Justice of the EU. #Judgment: C-592/14 (European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients – Possibility of selling cosmetics in the EU which have undergone animal testing under the legislation of a third country)

Thursday 22 September

  • Luxembourg.  * Court of Justice of the EU. #Judgment: C-525/14 (Commission/Czech Republic – Compatibility with EU law of the Czech Republic’s refusal to recognise hallmarks on precious metals of the Dutch guarantee bureau). #Conclusions: joined cases C-599/14 P (Council/LTTE) and C-79/15 P (Council/Hamas – application for cancellation of the judgment of the General Court cancelling the Council’s freezing of the assets of Hamas and of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam on procedural grounds).
