12/09/2016 (Agence Europe) – At the opening of the international climate conference in Rabat on Thursday 8 September in preparation for COP22, the vice president of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Roman Escolano, stated that “as the number one international financier in climate action, the EIB mobilises the means, skills and expertise for financing concrete projects in Morocco”. In this connection, he highlighted the example of the "emblematic Ouarzazate project" for producing solar power (see EUROPE 11176). The EIB said that on the basis of its COP21 commitment to dedicate 35% of its activities to climate action, it has spent €630 million on climate action in Morocco since 2011, which is equivalent to 33% of the bank's activities in this country.
