Brussels, 22/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - On the evening of Wednesday 20 July, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, announced the appointment of 17 new heads of delegations of the EU in the framework of the regular rotation for this year.
Europe. Poland's Jan Tombinski becomes head of delegation to the Holy See, the bodies of the United Nations in Rome and the Republic of San Marino. He is replaced in his position as head of delegation in Ukraine by Hugues Mingarelli of France. Bulgaria's Natalya Apostolova takes over the EU office in Kosovo, replacing Slovenia's Samuel Zbogar, who becomes head of the delegation to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, himself replacing Aivo Orav of Estonia, who is to head up the European delegation to Montenegro. Michael Matthiessen, of Danish nationality, becomes head of the EU delegation to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
Middle East. Antonia Calvo Puerta of Spain will take over the EU's delegation to Yemen.
Africa. The Italian Ranieri Sabatucci becomes head of delegation to the African Union. John O'Rourke of Ireland takes over the delegation to Algeria and Patrice Bergamini of France the delegation to Tunisia. The reins of the delegation to Djibouti are handed to Poland's Adam Kulach.
Latin America. Leon de la Torre Krais becomes head of the EU's delegation to Bolivia, Stella Styliani Zervoudaki of Greece takes over the delegation to Chile and Belgium's Marianne Van Steen the EU delegation to Ecuador.
Asia. Eduards Stiprais of Latvia becomes head of the EU's delegation to Uzbekistan and Spain's Carmen Cano de Lasala is the new head of the delegation to Hong Kong and Macao.
