20/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU denounces new ballistic missiles launch. On Tuesday 19 July, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, denounced the launch earlier that day of three ballistic missile is in the Sea of Japan, by North Korea. In a press release, she explained "This is another clear and grave violation of the DPRK's international obligations, as set out in UN Security Council Resolutions". She also pointed out that this launch "will heighten tensions on the Korean Peninsula and undermine the peace and security of the wider region". She pointed out that Pyongyang had to comply with its international obligations and exercise restraint in its action in this connection. The EU High Representative warned "We are in close contact with all our partners and will work with them to address this latest action". (CG)
