Brussels, 14/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 14 July, the budgetary control committee of the European Parliament decided to recommend granting discharge on the execution of the 2014 budgets of three European programmes: Artemis (research for the development of essential technologies for information systems), ENIAC (research for the development of essential skills for nano-electronics) and ITER (development of fusion energy). On 28 April this year, the EP decided to postpone the decision on granting discharge for the 2014 budgets of these three joint enterprises (EUROPE 11542). As regards ITER, the budgetary control committee of the EP welcomed the conclusions of the ITER Council of 15 and 16 June 2016, which confirmed that the ITER project is “now going in the right direction, in a way that will allow for a sound, realistic and detailed proposal for schedule and associated cost up to First Plasma”.
The budgetary control committee made a proposal to the EP to withhold, for the sixth year in a row, discharge for the Secretariat General of the Council on the execution of the budget of the European Council and of the Council for the financial year.
The EP will vote in September on the 2014 discharge for the Council and the three programmes listed above. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
