14/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - Sweden is the leading country in innovation. On Thursday, 14 July, the European Commission published the results from several studies included in the European Innovation Scoreboard, (EIS) Regional Innovation Scoreboard and Innabarometer. Sweden remains the most innovative member state, whilst Latvia is the member state that has made the most progress in this field. Germany is in 4th position and the United Kingdom in 8th, whilst France is just above the European average in 11th position, according to the EIS. Romania and Bulgaria are in last and last but one place respectively. According to this indicator, all member states classed as "leaders" are in northern Europe: Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany and the Netherlands. (PH)
