23/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU denounces attack on soldiers. On Wednesday 22 June, the Spokesperson for the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy denounced the car bomb in Rokbane, near the Syrian border, which killed six Jordanian soldiers and injured other members of the security forces, "who were performing their duty, defending their country". She added that "This attack is also another attempt to destabilise the region and its overall security. It is our collective duty to fight terrorism". The spokesperson also said that the EU was confident that the investigation carried out " will shed light on the perpetrators of this attack and that justice will be brought" to bear. She highlighted "the disastrous effect of the Syria war in the region" and pointed out that the EU would continue to show "full solidarity" to Jordan and support the "considerable efforts made by the country" to contribute to the peace in the region and to host the Syrian refugees.
