Trade, energy/climate and migration at centre of Ise-Shima summit

Brussels, 24/05/2016 (Agence Europe) - This year's G7 summit (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK and USA) in Ise-Shima (Japan) on 26-27 May will focus on the world economy and trade, foreign policy, migration and the refugee crisis, counter-terrorism, and energy and climate change.

Hosted by Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the G7 leaders - who will be joined by the EU leaders (European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker) - will also address other key issues such as cyber-security, tax transparency, infrastructure investment, women, health and the post-2015 development agenda.

On Thursday, the summit will start with a working session on the G7 and world economy, which will be followed by working sessions on international trade and foreign policy (with a particular focus on Asia). Over dinner, the leaders will tackle various foreign policy issues, including migration and counter-terrorism.

On Friday, work will resume with a session on climate and energy, which will be followed by a working session on stability and prosperity in Asia. The summit will finish with a working lunch on the post-2015 development agenda, infrastructure, women, health and Africa. Laos (currently chairing the ASEAN), Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, Chad (currently chairing the African Union), the UN, the IMF, the World Bank and the OECD have also been invited to the lunch.
