14 /04/2016 (Agence Europe) - €6.4 million to help 1000 former Larissa supermarket workers. On Thursday 14 April, the European Commission proposed to provide Greece with €6.4 million from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to help 557 former workers of bankrupt Greek supermarket chain Larissa to find new jobs, and to include 543 young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs) in the actions planned. Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility Marianne Thyssen commented "… we must use all the tools we have at our disposal to provide assistance" who are going through difficult times. This proposal was sent to the European Parliament and Council of the EU for their approval. (MD)
