14/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - Implementing association agreement review. Following a two-day visit (11-12 April 2016), headed by the Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy, Christian Danielsson, the European Union delegation in Algiers announced that the EU and Algeria "have reached an agreement for redefining their partnership's priorities". It should be pointed out that Algeria demanded and obtained a review of its association agreement because it believed that the benefits contained within it required greater balance. The EU delegation indicated that "a policy document is being prepared, which should outline the strategic areas of our relationship and the reciprocal commitments that we will take over the next few years". It added that "in this context, the EU has reiterated its determination to accompany Algeria in the implementation of political, economic and social reforms, as announced by the government for consolidating democracy and diversifying the Algerian economy".
