11/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - Euromesco examines fragile security balance in Mediterranean. Euromesco, the Euro-Mediterranean network for political and strategic studies institutes receiving EU support, will hold its general assembly on Wednesday 14 April 2016-Friday 16 April in Brussels. This event will be held in a context characterised by thoroughgoing reflections on what is to become of a region that is suffering from conflict, terrorism, economic development challenges and the European contribution to resolving these issues. The session's agenda expresses this concern. The session will focus on the theme of the fragile balance in the Mediterranean and the fraught relationships between a number of countries and the collapse of these relationships between others. It will also look at the increasing threat from "political sectarianism" and terrorist groups. According to Euromesco "this situation contains serious risks to the stability of the euro-Mediterranean area and beyond". The general assembly will be examining the architecture of security in the Mediterranean and what measures could be taken to rectify the current situation. (FB)
