11/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 7 April, the European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and the Fisheries, Karmenu Vella, visited Algeria, where he said that they needed to protect common marine resources. He also discussed "the need for a common strategy for the Mediterranean", explained his services at the beginning of the mission and whose results have not yet been made known. Nonetheless, ahead of his visit, the Commissioner emphasised that "the Mediterranean is politically and culturally diverse and has resources and common potential that is vital for the region. Healthy ecosystems are essential for continuing to produce wealth. A healthy Mediterranean where nature's richness is used will help us to use the full potential of the blue economy appropriately".
