Brussels, 15/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 15 March, the European Commission launched a public consultation on call termination fees for landlines and mobiles.
These fees correspond to the costs that telecoms operators charge each other for forwarding calls to other networks and that are passed on to the end consumer. They are currently covered by EU Regulation 2009/396/EC (RTT), which aims to boost coherence among EU countries in the way that national regulatory authorities set call ending rates and also to reduce the gap between termination rates for landlines and mobiles.
The consultation runs until 7 June 2016, and asks stakeholders about the impact of RTT on cost and supply and also asks what improvements are needed.
Details of the consultation and the questionnaire can be found at: https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/news/public-consultation-termination-rates-recommendation . (Original version in French by Sophie Petitjean)
