16/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - Corina Cretu meets former commissioner Olli Rehn. Visiting Finland on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 February, European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu met Finland's Economic Affairs Minister and former European commissioner Olli Rehn. She also spoke to the Finnish Parliament. Cretu commended Finland's excellent work in implementing European funding over the 2007-2013 period and the initial positive results for the new period: a quarter of European structural and investment funds already allocated to concrete projects. She encouraged the country to make the most of Smart specialisation, especially for the Baltic Sea region. In addition, in connection with the clearing work initiated by the European Commission (see EUROPE 11377), Cretu addressed the post-2020 cohesion policy and four related challenges: flexibility, European economic governance, simplification and performance.
