26/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Publication of EU position on generic medicines in TTIP negotiations. In conformity with its transparency initiative, the European Commission published a technical document on Tuesday 26 January, detailing the EU's objectives as regards regulatory cooperation on generic medicines. The EU proposes to make the authorisation process for placing generic medicines on the market more similar on both sides of the Atlantic, which would enable patients in Europe and the USA to obtain quicker access to generic medicines. In addition, the EU proposes to reduce duplicative clinical trials, which in return would reduce the exposure of humans in these trials.
