Brussels, 26/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 26 January, the European Commission announced that after a slight fall in October 2014, EU exports of agri-food products increased at the end of November 2015, to reach a value of €10.9 billion, thus exceeding the value of previous years for the month of November by €500 million, and showing a rise of 5.7% compared with November 2014.
In 12 months, exports to the USA, China (which is now the second biggest third country market for EU agri-food exports, instead of Russia), Saudi Arabia, Turkey and South Korea recorded noticeable growth. The biggest increases were noted for vegetables and citrus fruit, wheat and live animals, while the biggest decreases were for wine and spirits.
EU imports of agri-food products remained at €9.5 billion in November 2015, the same as in October 2015. The biggest increases were noted for fruit, cereals and wheat, while the biggest decreases were for oilcakes and citrus fruit.
The EU trade balance for agri-food products showed a surplus of about €1.3 billion in November 2015. (Original version in French by Emmanuel Hagry)
