Brussels, 16/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - MEPs oppose the drawing up of a European list of 36 important invasive exotic species, because they feel the list is incomplete and not based on scientific criteria, which would make it ineffective in the fight against this problem.
This is why on Wednesday 16 December, they objected in Strasbourg to a draft decision to draw up this priority list under the EU regulation to prevent and manage the introduction into and propagation in the EU of the issue using coordinated action plans.
The MEPs were following the recommendation of the EP's environment committee, which issued its views on 2 December (see EUROPE 11444). (Original version in French by Aminata Niang)
