10/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - Kenya ratifies WTO's trade facilitation agreement. On Thursday 10 December, Kenya (the host of the 10th WTO ministerial conference in Nairobi on 15-18 December) showed an example by becoming the 57th WTO member country to submit its ratification instrument of the trade facilitation agreement (TFA). Concluded in December 2013 and forming part of package of measures for developing countries, the TFA contains a series of rules for simplifying and easing customs procedures, and for increasing the participation of developing countries in global trade. The TFA will enter into force when two thirds of the WTO member countries (162 since the accession of Kazakhstan on 30 November) have ratified it. The WTO hopes to obtain as many ratifications as possible by the Nairobi conference so it can formalise the TFA's entry into force. (EH)
