10/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - European Ombudsman's public consultation on trilogue transparency. After launching an investigation into the transparency of inter-institutional trilogues on 26 May, the European Ombudsman decided on Thursday 10 December to launch a public consultation on this subject. Trilogues are informal negotiations that take place between the European Parliament, Council and Commission with a view to establishing agreements on legislative proposals. The Ombudsman is asking the public if it thinks the way in which EU legislation is negotiated in trilogue is sufficiently transparent. The deadline for submitting comments is 31 March 2016. (LC)
