Commission action plan to be unveiled on 2 December

Brussels, 01/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is expected, on Wednesday 2 December, to unveil its action plan for transforming the European economy into a circular economy -where throwing anything away without recycling it will be consigned to history and efficient use of resources will be the watchword, right from the design stage (see EUROPE 11410).

The measures the Commission is preparing to present range from product design, the production process, consumption patterns (including addressing food waste) and the recycling of waste to the market for secondary raw materials to be put back into the economy.

Expectations of the plan are great, especially as the European Commission has long said that it wants to present a “much more ambitious” package than that offered by the previous Commission - which was ditched on the recommendation of Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans, who has responsibility for Better Regulation.
