Brussels, 01/12/2015 (Agence Europe) -With still no legislative proposals to govern the role of lobbies in the decision-making process, the Greens/EFA group at the European Parliament announced on Tuesday 1 December that it had taken the lead, with the launch of its new tool, “lobbycal”.
This, the Greens explain, is the first tool for the automatic publication online of MEPs' meetings with lobbyists. “From the business secrecy directive to negotiations for the TTIP, via the authorisation of certain endocrine disruptors or standards on polluting emissions in the automotive sector, we note that the representation of interests to the European decision-makers is seriously unbalanced, which benefits the large industrial groups which deploy considerable resources to influence public decisions”, explained Pascal Durand. By launching this tool, “we are taking a step forwards towards greater transparency of public decisions and invite all other members of the European Parliament to do likewise”, he concluded.
