26/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - New director for food chain safety. There has been a slight reshuffle in the European Commission's public health department (DG SANTE). On Wednesday 25 November, Sabine Juelicher, who was the head of unit dealing with “authorisation of medicinal products, European Medicines Agency”, was appointed as the director for Department E that deals with the safety of the food chain. Qualified at undergraduate level in veterinary medicine and at postgraduate level in food hygiene, Juelicher began her career in research. She then joined the Commission in 1999 and has been a head of unit since 2008. There is not yet any announcement on who will take over her head of unit post. (SPj)
