Brussels, 23/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - Preparatory work continues ahead of the trilateral ministerial meeting between the EU, Russia and Ukraine in Brussels on 1 December. The meeting will focus on implementing the EU-Ukraine deep and comprehensive free trade agreement (DCFTA) - which is due to enter into force on 1 January 2016.
After visiting Ukraine's foreign minsiter, Pavlo Klimkin, in Kiev on 13 November, European Commssioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström spoke to Russia's economic development minister, Alexey Ulyukayev, on the phone on Monday 23 November.
Malmström spoke to her Russian counterpart about the EU's continued involvement to reach concrete solutions so as to take account of Russia's concerns regarding implementation of the EU-Ukraine DCFTA - concerns particularly about customs cooperation, technical barriers to trade, and sanitary and phytosantiary measures, the Commission stated on Monday.
Malmström also proposed setting up a technical level trilateral working group to follow developments on these issues once the EU-Ukraine DCFTA has entered into force. (Original version in French by Emmanuel Hagry)
