17/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - Smart specialisation promoted. On Monday 16 November during a trip to the Netherlands, the Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu, sought to promote Smart Specialisation (S3P), during an event focusing on research and innovation in the agri-foods industry. This is one of the country's strong points and it has received almost €1.4 billion over the 2014-20 period as part of cohesion policy. It is an integral part of cohesion policy and the aim of smart specialisation is to focus structural funds on the specific advantages of each region, by enhancing synergies between European policies that promote research and development (see EUROPE 11321).
