05/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - Mayotte-Comoros cooperation to receive €12 million. The European Commission gave the go-ahead on Tuesday 3 November to the 2014-2020 cross-border cooperation programme between Mayotte, a French overseas region, and the Union of the Comoros, in southern Africa. The programme is worth €12 million and will be funded from the European regional development fund (ERDF). It focuses on three objectives: - doubling trade, particularly in the agrifood and information and communication technologies (ICT) sectors; - improving public health and emergency services; - promoting mobility in education. In parallel, coordination between the ERDF and the European development fund (EDF), of which Comoros is a recipient, will be forged so as jointly to finance cross-border projects. (PH)
