04/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - Last round table on road safety. The fifth and final round table on road safety will take place in Latvia on Thursday 5 November on the sidelines of the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) road safety conference. The meeting will focus on Romania, Poland, Bulgaria and Lithuania and will provide the opportunity to share best practice. The previous round tables, spread over the period from July to September, discussed, inter alia, improving speed and infrastructure management for vulnerable road users and preventing drink driving. The initiative was launched by Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc, as part of European road safety policy. In 2014, 25,700 fatal accidents occurred on Europe's roads. (PH)
