04/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU hails signature of security agreement. The signature of the agreement, in Addis Ababa on Monday 2 November between all parties of the South Sudan conflict, on details of security arrangements has been hailed by the EU as “a significant moment in bringing peace to South Sudan”. The EU has called for immediate implementation of this agreement to put a halt to the civil war that has been ravaging the youngest state in the world since December 2013. In a press release on Tuesday 3 November, the European External Action Service (EEAS) said that “only this will bring some respite to the people of South Sudan who are still victims of horrendous atrocities and facing a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented magnitude”. The EU looks forward to the speedy installation of the joint monitoring and evaluation commission, and thanks IGAD for its tenacity in mediating. (AN)
