30/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis visits China. EU Health and Food Safety Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis will travel to China on Sunday 1 to Thursday 5 November for a series of meetings with members of the Chinese government - including health and family planning minister Li Bin, the minister in charge of the Chinese food and drug administration, Bi Jingquan, and the countries health and food safety authorities. Andrukaitis will make speeches at an international conference on food quality and safety and will address Beijing's medical college. The Commission explains that “China remains a key trade partner for Europe and this visit provides a platform to exchange views on important issues such as food safety and public health.' Andriukaitis will raise the question of a global approach to tackling anti-microbial resistance. (EH)
