30/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete travels to Latin America. As part of his diplomatic round ahead of the United Nations' climate conference (COP 21) in Paris in December, EU Energy and Climate Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete will travel to Brazil and then Ecuador from 3 to 8 November to boost dialogue and cooperation on climate issues between the EU, Latin America and the Caribbean. In Brazil, Cañete will meet environment minister Izabella Teixeira and chief Brazilian negotiator Antônio Marcondes José de Carvalho. In Ecuador (from 5 November onwards), Cañete will meet president Rafael Correa and the country's energy and climate ministers. He will also discuss global climate matters with the foreign ministers of Latin American and Caribbean countries under the umbrella of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
