Brussels, 30/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Annual inflation in the eurozone was 0.0% in October, up from -0.l% in September, according to a flash estimate from the EU's statistical office, Eurostat, issued on Friday 30 October.
Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, food, alcohol & tobacco is expected to have the highest annual rate in October (1.5%, compared with 1.4% in September), followed by services (1.3%, compared with 1.2% in September), non-energy industrial goods (0.4%, compared with 0.3% in September) and energy (-8.7%, compared with -8.9% in September).
At its last meeting, the ECB Governing Council paved the way for a new easing of monetary policy, which could take the form of expanding the scale and/or duration of quantitative easing (member states purchase of public and private bonds, see EUROPE 11416).
