22/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Mogherini calls again for adoption of agreement. On Thursday 22 October, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini once again called on the Libyan parties for swift adoption of the agreement proposed by the United Nations on 9 October. The parliaments in Tripoli and Tobruk both recently rejected the UN plan. According to a press release from her staff, Mogherini congratulated Libya's Prime Minister Designate Fayez Al Sarraj on his appointment and assured him of the EU's full support for his work “in the coming days, weeks and months in leading Libya out of the its current impasse towards peace and stability”. Mogherini and Al Sarraj discussed the current state of play and the efforts being made to finalise the agreement. They decided to stay in close contact and meet at the earliest possible opportunity. Mogherini reiterated that the EU stands ready to help Libya with immediate substantial support once the government of national accord is formed. (CG)
