05/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Christos Stylianides shocked at bombing of MSF humanitarian workers. European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides deplores the loss of life in the US bombing of a hospital run by Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) in Kunduz, Afghanistan. “I am deeply shocked to learn about the death of at least nine staff members of MSF”, Stylianides said on Saturday 3 October, stating that “MSF and other humanitarian organisations are carrying out essential life-saving work in Afghanistan in very difficult conditions”. Offering his “heartfelt condolences” to the families and colleagues of all the victims, Stylianides called on “all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law and ensure that health care facilities and humanitarian workers are protected”.
