Brussels, 05/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - The Eurydice network has published the latest edition of its report on teachers' and school heads' salaries in 36 European countries (the 28 EU member states, plus Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey).
Compared with the previous year, the report reveals that, after several years of stagnation, or even reductions, teachers' increased in 23 countries in 2014-2015. “It is encouraging that countries invest in this important profession. Europe relies on highly motivated and qualified teachers. They are crucial to provide quality education to the next generations”, said Education and Training Commissioner Tibor Navracsics. In addition to the general overview, the report also includes individual country sheets with detailed information on issues such as annual gross salaries, salary progression and available allowances.
