30/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU concerned about country's stability. On Monday 28 September, the European Union expressed its concern at the violence in the province of Manica in Mozambique - a country with a reputation as a haven of peace over the last two decades. “The two recent attacks, which have targeted Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama, are detrimental to the country's stability, democratic progress and economic development”, said the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini. Offering its condolences to the families of the victims, the EU calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incidents so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice and dialogue relaunched. The shooting that targeted the leader of the opposition claimed 20 lives. (AN)
