28/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU and Arab League urge Libyan parties to sign UN agreement. On Sunday 27 September, the High Representative of the EU Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, and the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Nabil El Araby, called on all Libyan parties to sign the agreement prepared by the United Nations during negotiations with these parties. The European External Action Service stressed in a press release published after the meeting between Mogherini and El Araby on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly that they had expressed their “full support for the continuing work of the UN Special Envoy for Libya, Bernardino Leon”. On 21 September, Leon announced that the text of a “definitive” and “consensual” agreement had been prepared and that it was now up to the Libyan parties to approve or reject this agreement (see EUROPE 11394).
