Brussels, 28/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 28 September, the European Commission adopted the cross-border Interreg A programme 2014-2020 for regions along the German-Polish border.
More than €157 million, including €134 million from the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD), will be injected as a priority into protection of natural and cultural heritage and enhancing cooperation between public institutions in order to overcome linguistic and social and cultural barriers. Each of the two budget headings is for €42.88 million, 32% of the full programme.
Second in the ranking of priorities for the programme, with nearly €27 million (20% of the total budget) comes the densifying of cross-border connections and mobility between the two regions, followed by cooperation in bilingual education at €13.40 million (10%). The last budget heading, with €8 million (6%) is for technical assistance.
The programme covers the Land of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Germany and the Western Pomerania Voivodeship in Poland.
On 30 September, more than 200 participants will attend the launch of the cooperation programme in the presence of a number of public representatives from Poland and Germany. (Original version in French by Pascal Hansens)
