Brussels, 10/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - This Saturday 12 September, the finance ministers of the eurozone will discuss the cases of the two countries under a financial assistance plan: Greece and Cyprus.
The Eurogroup is expected to approve the conclusions of the seventh monitoring mission to Nicosia, which are mostly positive: budgetary targets comfortably met, acceleration of restructuring the financial sector and progress in structural reforms (see EUROPE 11368). This should pave the way for the next tranche of aid to be paid out, by the European Stability Mechanism and, theoretically, the IMF, in October.
For Greece, the ministers' expectations are less clear-cut, as general elections are scheduled for 20 September. The next monitoring mission of the third bailout plan is to start in October, which will pave the way for discussions on the reduction of the debt and the involvement of the IMF. The ministers will also discuss the bolstering of the bolstering of the EMU. (Elodie Lamer)
