02/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Kosovo asked to abandon its customs duties on imports of petroleum products. On Monday 1 September, the secretariat of the Energy Community sent Kosovo a reasoned opinion, requesting it to abolish its customs duties within two months on the imports of certain petroleum products from EU member states and from other member countries of the Energy Community (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, FYROM, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine). This is the second stage of dispute settlement in this case (ECS 2/15). In its reasoned opinion, the Energy Community secretariat reiterates that by collecting customs duties on the imports of certain petroleum products Kosovo is infringing Article 41 of the treaty establishing the Energy Community, which bans all customs duties on the import of energy.
