14/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - Council's green light to new eco-design requirements for lamps. On Monday 13 July, the Council of the EU decided not to oppose the adoption of a European Commission regulation on eco-design requirements for non-directional household lamps; fluorescent lamps without integrated ballast; high intensity discharge lamps and ballasts and luminaries able to operate such lamps; directional lamps; and light emitting diode lamps and related equipment. The new regulation will amend regulations 244/2009, 245/2009 and 1194/2012. The Commission acts are subject to the regulatory procedure with scrutiny - once the Council has given its green light, the Commission can adopt them unless the European Parliament objects. (EH)
