23/062015 (Agence Europe) - WTO/Doha, poor progress on agricultural market access. On Tuesday 16 June, the New Zealand ambassador to the WTO, John Adank, spoke to the agricultural negotiating committee that he chairs about the persisting differences on the agricultural market access chapter, despite robust attempts made by the respective delegations. He said members were “still a long way from where we should be” in regards to finalising a post-Bali work programme for the farm trade talks in the Doha Round and conclude an agreement in this respect during the 10th WTO ministerial conference in Nairobi, this December. Last week, discussions focused on the different suggestions proposed to reduce customs duties in the agricultural sector. (EH)
