Brussels, 23/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - A group of influential British entrepreneurs is preparing to launch a campaign to get the UK out of the European Union, reported the Sunday Telegraph on Sunday 21 June, as the prime minister, David Cameron, prepared for talks with his European peers in Brussels this week about his reform plans.
The group of powerful businessmen, some of whom favour UKIP, are millionaires who the Sunday Telegraph says will be launching a £20 million 'No Thanks - We're Going Global' campaign in September. Seven other pro-Brexit groups have already been formed in the UK ahead of the referendum that David Cameron will be holding in 2017 at the latest.
In Brussels, the UK's situation will be discussed by Europe's leaders on Thursday evening. The prime minister will set out his ideas, without necessarily going into detail, explained a European source on Tuesday 23 June. The idea is to decide on how the British demands can be met. A report on work in this connection will be drawn up for the European Summit in December.
The terrain of the talks has been marked out. Several delegations, including France and Germany, do not reject the idea of a differentiated integration and a multi-speed Europe, but say that this must be done in the framework of common EU principles such as the free circulation of Europeans.
