23/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - Kazakhstan soon to be 162nd member of WTO. On Monday 22 June, WTO member countries adopted the package containing the terms for Kazakhstan joining the WTO, which will be sent to the General Council for formal adoption. Kazakhstan plans for ratification to be completed by the 31 October deadline, in view of formal accession before the ministerial conference in Nairobi next December. In its accession process, Kazakhstan adopted and/or adjusted more than 50 laws in order to comply with WTO rules. It also concluded 29 bilateral agreements on goods market access, which involves concessions and commitments at an average of 6.1% for all its products (7.6% agricultural products and 5.9% for industrial products) and 15 bilateral agreements on access to the services market, which involves specific commitments in 10 sectors and 116 services subsectors, including telecommunications, insurance and banking, transport and tourism.
