17/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - “Trade Secrets Directive. On Tuesday 16 June, when the EP Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) was adopting the directive on trade secrets, the petition “Ne laissons pas les entreprises dicter l'info - Stop à la Directive Secret des Affaires!” (Don't Let Companies Dictate Information-Stop the Trade Secrets Directive!) launched by the “Informer n'est pas un délit” (Informing Is Not a Crime) collective obtained more than 300,000 signatures. Petition signatures were mainly journalists who were afraid that under the guise of protecting companies, this text will hamper their investigatory work, particularly because of the ambiguity and definition of what constitute trade secrets. Therefore, the collective believes that the only satisfactory solution is to refocus the directive exclusively on industrial espionage between companies, according to a report in the French newspaper, Le Monde.
